Support Packages
What package should I sign up to as a new customer?
We have purposely created different packages for you to choose from to meet your budget.
The GREEN package is designed to provide you with minimum cover for a smaller business.
It does not give the protection of the metal packages but guarantees you get access to professional advice.
As a new customer we recomended the PLATINUM package , this is the most expensive package but ideal for a business with minimal Health and Safety Documentation, this is recomended because the hourly rate is the lowest we have meaning if we create the documentation for you it will be at our best rate possible.
Depending on what we do for you in the first year (we will tailor your support to your budget) you can then change to a lower level of cover, however if you need more documentation you can remain on the same package.
We will always advise on the best package for you to subscribe to, a small office based business may not need the added protection of the Platinum package , where as a vehicle paint spraying business may require the benefit of the extra site visits and continual documentation updates.
Why is there a setup fee for the pay monthly package?
The pay monthly option is designed to be a cost-effective solution for the smaller business.
You still get all the benefits of the complete blown package of the same level.
However, it takes time to set up your portal and collate other documentation.
Although you agree to a 12-month contract upon signing, we understand that problems can arise, and we won’t hold you strictly to it.
If you do have difficulties and need to cancel, the £100 setup fee will cover the time taken for setting up your account.
How do the Health and Safety Support Packages Work?
When you purchase a “Metal” (Silver, Gold, Platinum) support package, you become entitled to the services listed within that package.
Each of the metal packages includes a visit to your site as standard.
You can access a qualified Health and Safety Advisor through many communications channels.
The cost for your specialist work includes the time taken to produce documents such as COSHH risk assessments, equipment and process risk assessments, Health and Safety and Legionella Policies, etc. cost extra and are charged at the price according to the plan.
Audits
Can BEMA Safety complete a full noise risk assessment?
There are many variables to consider when performing a noise risk assessment.
BEMA use a class 2 sound meter to accurately determine the background, peak and average sound level over a given time.
As it stands, BEMA Safety does not have the resources to perform a comprehensive sound audit of your site, but we can determine if a more thorough assessment may be required.
We do not currently have a preferred contractor to perform our noise surveys, as soon as we source a suitable qualified business we will update our FAQ.
How often should I get my Air Quality checked?
This is dependent on your working environment.
Because of the nature of work in metal engineering workshops, every 3 months is required.
This is because different times of the year have other challenges. The doors are open in the summer. Good ventilation is not an issue.
In the winter, the doors are closed. Heating can concentrate the contaminants in the air. This can allow the contaminants to accumulate. Likewise, the air being moved by the heating may take the polluted air away from the workforce.
It may not be required at all for a small office. But, it is beneficial to check it. This ensures the air is perfectly acceptable.
Our metal health and safety packages include air and sound quality checks.
Why do I need my workplace air quality monitored?
Air is a fundamental requirement to sustain life.
Pollutants in the air have been known to seriously affect quality of life.
Within metalwork engineering, there is a raised risk of poor air quality from Metalworking Fluids
Where dangerous chemicals are used, they may also become airborne and toxic or corrosive chemicals enter your lungs.
Although the air quality measurements may not identify the chemical, they can show as an indicator that something is in the air and processes need to be put in place to control it.
Why do I need the workplace sound level monitored?
Sound and noise in the workplace is a complex subject.
Not only is it a legal responsibility to maintain a level below the 80dB lower action limit set by the Health and Safety Executive.
It can reduce the payout for employees claiming compensation for Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), Tinnitus, or other sound-induced medical conditions caused by loud noises at work.
Regular recording of sound levels and annual occupational health hearing tests will demonstrate to a court that you have done everything within your power to maintain a safe working environment with respect to noise levels.
Website
Do you use artificial intelligence for pictures and text?
Artificial Intelligence-produced content often contains spelling mistakes and untrue facts.
This website is new, and as I am building it, I will occasionally use AI to speed up the process and make it search engine friendly, this is temporary measure while I add content.
I will always fact-check the information. Some of the pictures will have spelling mistakes. AI is poor at pictures! However, it can demonstrate a point.
I will update the content with more personalised and relevant text and pictures as time allows.
I will indicate AI-generated text with an “AI^” sign below it.
BEMA Safety
What are BEMA Safetys’ requirements for an approved contractor?
BEMA Safety prides itself on quality service. We understand that we can not cover every service related to Health and Safety. Because of this, we work with contractors we have vetted to perform exceptional service at a cost that represents our values.
Due to our environmental commitment, we try to source contractors near our customers.
If you have experienced excellent service from a business or you are a business that can offer exceptional service for our customer base, please contact us at contract@bemasafety.co.uk with a rundown of what you can offer, what services you can perform and what benefits our customer base will receive.
Will the cost of the Health and Safety packages increase?
There are no plans to increase the costs of our support packages soon.
There may be times when we increase prices to cover our operating costs.
Price increases will never be mid-term. If they do increase, it will be before renewal.
You will have the opportunity to cancel the renewal.
Rest assured, our costs will always be competitive for the level of service you will get.
Why are the prices at BEMA Health and Safety so reasonable?
British Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, being an association, is registered at Companies House as a not-for-profit organisation.
Our directors are unpaid and do not get dividends for their company director contributions.
The quality does not suffer. Our health and safety advisors are NEBOSH qualified. They have many years of industry experience.
